^Lot 4019 CIVIL WAR ALTERED COMPOSITE MODEL 1841

"MISSISSIPPI" RIFLE & BAYONET. Cal. 58. NSN. Standard configuration of brass mounted Model 1841 rifle, 33" barrel turned at muzzle for angular bayonet with lug attached on bottom, re-rifled to 58 caliber, 1847 dated Tryon lock, 1850 dated barrel. This rifle has interesting personalization with initials "HPW" cut into stock and a 1831 dated half dollar inset into toolbox. Different stamped inventory numbers stamped on barrel and buttplate. CONDITION: very good overall, complete & original, cleaned brass has toned patina, good mechanics, dark rifled bore, markings are all discerned. Angular bayonet is good with US surcharge.
